White Minorities

Elizabeth Warren has stepped in it! No, she hasn’t lied, cheated or stole (that we know of), but she has told the truth.

A month ago, the Boston press revealed that the Massachusetts Democratic Senatorial candidate had labelled herself as a minority law professor, citing the fact that she’s 1/32 Native American.

What’s more, Politico revealed this week that Harvard University went as far as to label her a “diversity hire.”  But here’s the best: her response.  Warren explained that she listed herself for nearly a decade as a minority law teacher to connect with others “like” her.  HA!

She fits in just well up in Massachusetts with that African-American, Teresa Hines Kerry.

I think it’s time to write another check to Senator Scott Brown!

What is disappointing about all of this is that this is the topic that Sen. Brown’s campaign decided to bring up at all. I like many people am 1/32 of a number of things. That would be the melting pot of America. Some of my ancestors have been here thousands of years, others came in the early 1900’s and everything in between. It doesn’t matter to anyone other than some interesting family lore, a coincidental last name with a local unincorporated town and a genetic mix all my own. Anybody could make such a claim and probably be technically right including this one. However does it matter and is it really what the Brown campaign wants to be known for.

The problem is Warren’s right now, and she will take some heat for claiming a cultural identity she has little or no stake in. However with a day or two and well placed commentary it will blow over. The next step is going to be why the Brown campaign brought it up in the first place. It is going to sound just as desperate on his part as it was stupid to do on hers. The problem for Brown is in the political reality of Massachusetts, a desperate sounding republican is in much worse shape that a stupid sounding democrat. Handling the issue has been a rookie mistake on the Warren campaigns part but bringing it up was a similar rookie move for the Brown campaign. An unconnected surrogate would have been a much better choice.

So what happen to the issues in all of this? Remember the smaller vs. larger government, spending beyond our means vs. blank check and unfunded mandates. Brown already has a handicap due to the religious right of his party. This kind of move doesn’t help in overcoming that. Brown tried to be one of the endangered species of moderate republicans. If he keeps making moves like this they will become even more so.

The actions this deeply dishonest woman has highlighted is the barbaric racist stupidity of quota hiring & using different outcomes as direct evidence of discrimination.

I don’t think you appreciate the suffering that her people have had to endure at the hands of the white man. You don’t even respect her enough to use her real name. Instead, you use the name the white man gave her. Her true name is “She-who-fakes-bankruptcy-studies.”
